An english blog for non-swiss
We got some complains that by just seeing the pictures doesn't tell you that we are doing fine here in Africa :-). After now several weeks getting used to the african way of life, we really enjoy our trip although each day has new adventure waiting for us. The world is complet different and our problems changed drastically. No power supply, no internet facilities or very slow internet connection (that slow you would never imagine) make it difficult to communicate with you. But after now being in Ghana and Togo, Mozambique is already in the big towns much better equipped. The most important thing ist that we really enjoy our holiday and learned quite fast that everything takes a lot of time in Africa. First, we spend two weeks in Ghana where we slowly got adapted and slowed down to the african way of living. Later, the four weeks in Togo with the local NGO and the hospital was very interesting and we visitited several projects which are supported from the swiss foundation Togo-Projekt. Being on the african site of the tropical disease burden is very interesting especially in the lab of the hospital where we could see the Plasmodium falciparum under the microscope, but unfortunately also a lot of people suffering from malaria. Luckily, but also with a lot of precausion not to get bitten, we stayed healthy so far and we hope not to meet the tsetse fly in reality. At the moment, we are in Mozambique where we relaxed on an island just for ourself in the Archipelago Bazaruto with a cook and a skipper and a small wooden boat. Robinson and Freitag are greeting...
